Dispensing e-prescriptions safely, line by line

Paper scripts are slow to read and easy to mis-key. Electronic prescriptions solve the legibility problem, but they introduce a new question: how do you dispense exactly what the doctor ordered while still catching dangerous combinations?
Verify before you touch the shelf
PIMS pulls the prescription straight from the HIE and lets the pharmacist verify it before anything is picked. What the prescriber ordered is what appears on screen, in full, with dosing and duration.
Dispense one item at a time
Each line is checked off as it is filled, so partial dispensing is tracked rather than guessed. Nothing is marked complete until it has actually left the shelf.
Interaction checks that fire in time
Because the whole basket is known before the sale closes, PIMS flags risky combinations at the point of dispensing. A warfarin-and-ibuprofen pairing is surfaced for review before the transaction completes, not after.
Pull and verify every e-prescription from the HIE.
